Academy video offers patients face-washing tips for healthier-looking skin
In recognition of National Healthy Skin Month, encourage your patients to view the Academy's
"Face washing 101" video, which shows tips for healthier-looking skin. The video is part of the Dermatology A to Z: Video Series, which offers relatable videos that demonstrate tips people can use to properly care for their skin, hair, and nails. Dr. P’s Guide to Sun Protection
- Use Sunscreen
- Use every day, even on a cloudy day
- Board spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen SPF 30 or higher
- For extended outdoor activity use water resistant Apply 30 minutes before sun exposure
- One shot glass full to cover entire body
- Reapply every 2 hours
- Seek shade between 10 am and 4 pm, when sun's rays are most intense
- Wear sun protective clothing, tight weave, dark color, or SVR rated
- Wear a wide brimmed hat, at least 3 inches around to protect face, ears, and neck
- Use UV blocking sun glasses
